Welcome to the homepage of the UK agents for the Hurghada-based Red Sea Explorers. Red Sea Explorers is a first rate liveaboard operator who has been operating out of Hurghada since 2005. They were originally established to provide technical diving facilities with nitrox, helium and scooters common place. Many of the liveaboards configure themselves for technical diving weeks, with the rest of the time being established for recreational diving. Red Sea Explorers can cover both recreational and technical diving on all of their itineraries, indeed they regularly mix technical and recreational diving at the same time.
They have been steadily growing and have recently purchased a second boat, MV Nouran, along with new premises including a shop just off the New Marina in Hurghada. The shop stocks all the diving equipment you may need, either to replace something you may have forgotten, or want to buy new. Their stock includes Halcyon Dive Equipment, Liquivision Dive Computers, Suex Scooters, GoPro Cameras and Scubapro Dive Equipment, along with lots of other items including wetsuits and dive gear you may need.
Gareth Lock and Pawel Szopinski, the people behind Red Sea Explorers (UK), provide a focal point for Red Sea Explorers in the UK. They are both experienced technical divers covering OC and CCR diving.
Pawel Szopinski is a passionate and experienced rebreather diver who is also an active ANDI, TDI and PADI instructor. Pawel started his diving career on a holiday to Barbados, but soon found the exciting challenges of diving closer to home in the English Channel where he also discovered rebreathers and trained all the way up to Trimix level. What he enjoys most is scootering around creepy rusty deep sea wrecks. His favourite dives include the RMS Amazon (115m) and HMS Transylvania (135m) in Donegal. As a TDI Advanced Mixed Gas CCR Instructor and an ANDI Technical Trimix Rebreather Instructor, Pawel can teach rebreather classes on the Hammerhead CCR including Trimix in both English and Polish. He believes that diving can be easy and very enjoyable until it goes wrong. Untrained divers only see the easy part as they are not prepared for what can go wrong. Pawel aims to improve it.
Gareth Lock has with qualifications from PADI, TDI, BSAC and GUE and has undertaken the majority of his training with the latter agency, qualifying as a Tech 2 diver in 2007 with Richard Lundgren, at the time, one of only eight Tech 2 divers in the UK. Gareth is a well published underwater photographer specialising in cold water wreck photography. He provides UW photography training both in the UK and the Red Sea using Red Sea Explorers as his liveaboard of choice.
